Governor's Mansion
In 1970, Bob Scott was the Governor of Raleigh. He had been living in the Governor's mansion for sometime when he decided that it was time for a new bed. He was tired of the old bed that had been left for him by the governors before him and decided to buy something new. He had his staff move the old bed up to the third floor of the house and a new bed was put in his room.
But that evening he was woken up by a strange rapping sound coming from the wall. In fact it seemed to be coming from where the headboard of the old bed had been. Every night the noises continued until Governor Scott decided to investigate. He went to a historian to learn more about the old bed that he had moved from his room. He learned that in 1891 Governor Daniel Fowl had died in that bed and many believed that his spirit still haunted it. Governor Scott had made him angry by moving the bed! And he was showing his anger by banging on the wall every night to keep him awake.
After Governor Scott moved out of the mansion, the staff decided to move the old bed back down to its original room. The noises stopped and the ghost has never been heard from again.
